January 4
Destinations Travel Magazine chose Vida Vacations and Grupo Vidanta resorts as the cover story for their January issue! The spread is beautiful and we are so pleased they chose to feature our resorts. "Every luxury and amenity is brought together to create a heightened sense of decadence: Platinum Patron margaritas by the infinity pool; a private butler for every floor; only a few resort rooms on each floor. It feels more like a private residential building with all of the services of the finest resorts in the world." December 9
Buñuelos are small deep-fried puff pastries traditionally served during the holiday season; originally from the Iberian Peninsula, the recipe was adapted and introduced to Latin America by Spaniards. Buñuelos have since become a classic dessert in Mexican households. Sweeten up your festivities with a scrumptious Buñuelo. Ingredients: For the buñuelos 3 1/2 cups of wheat flour 3 eggs 1 teaspoon of cornstarch 1 cup of milk 2 spoonfuls of butter For the syrup: 1/2 kg. (2 cones) of piloncillo (brown sugar candy) 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks 3 whole cloves 2 cups of water Preparation: Buñuelo Mix all the ingredients and make small balls out of the dough. Flatten then with a roller until they lay as flat as possible. Next, deep fry the flattened dough until golden on both sides. Carefully scoop out and place on a napkin to allow the excess oil to soak. Dip or cover your Buñuelos with piloncillo syrup. If you don't want to make the syrup, cover them with cinnamon sugar! *Piloncillo Syrup Place Read more...Holidays Under the Sun
December 6
The holidays are near, which for my family means the house is decorated for the season, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is filling the air and our fireplace is lit! Did I mention Happy Holidays?! Today is December 6th and in 11 short days we will be under the hot Mexican sun for two weeks! Every morning when I head out into the freezing cold weather, I tell myself over and over, “Grand Luxxe is just a few days a way - just a little more time in the cold and then you will be sipping a margarita by the pool!” Every year during the holidays, we return to Riviera Maya to defrost and relax in luxury. It wasn’t until a few days ago when I was listening to the news that I found out there is a term for people like us that spend a portion of the winter in warm locations – SNOWBIRDS. I like it and am proud to call myself one! The term works quite well and gives a new meaning to, “birds of a feather flock together.” To my fellow snowbirds, have a wonderful and warm vacation! December 1
Four of my girl friends and I just got back from an amazing week in Riviera Maya! Our indulgent week was filled with spa treatments, great food and drinks, lounging by the pool and lots of laughter. When I drink margaritas, I like to have them prepared as fresh as possible without the syrupy taste. To avoid any confusion, I simply ask for Tequila, Cointreau and fresh squeezed lime juice. For our first meal, I ordered my traditional margarita, which is also known as a “skinny girl margarita” and it quickly became the groups’ drink of choice during the trip. During our trip, I found out that Bethenny Frankel came to the resorts and trained the staff how to make the healthiest and freshest margaritas. For all of you who don’t know who she is, Bethenny was a reality television star and started a guilt-free cocktail line called “Skinny Girl” that ended up selling for $120 million! Try the fresh skinny margaritas on your next visit to Grand Luxxe. They are delicious and have much fewer Read more...Thanksgiving in Mexico

Puerto Vallarta boasts a rich gastronomic scene and for many years chefs have celebrated the area’s culinary genius with a ten-day festival. The original goal of this event was to increase the area’s gastronomic profile both locally and internationally. The festival has surpassed its goals and every year somehow ends up bigger and better than the last. This year there will be a special focus on using the freshest ingredients to make the best dishes. We are honored and excited that our very own Chef Isabella Dorantes from Epazote restaurant in Nuevo Vallarta was chosen to participate during the Star Chefs Night. Epazote is situated in Grand Luxxe’s lobby and serves delicious authentic Mexican cuisine.
